A+E Studios boosts scripted ambitions with trio of appointments

The second season of A+E Studios’ drama Big Sky is airing on ABC

A+E Studios, the studio unit of A+E Networks, has revealed a trio of executive hires as it looks to bolster its ambitions in the scripted space.

On Tuesday the company announced it has brought in Lucia Gervino as head of production, TPaul Miller as senior VP of strategy and operations and Tom Lerner as VP of creative affairs.

Valerie Spiller was also promoted to the role of senior VP, head of production finance. All four execs are based in LA.

Gervino, who was most recently a production exec at Amazon Studios, will oversee global genre series productions. While at Amazon, she worked on projects including the company’s Lord of the Rings television adaptation, The Wheel of Time, The Boys and The Expanse. She previously worked at BET networks and Syfy Channel.

Miller will work closely with A+E Studios president Barry Jossen and the rest of the executive team to drive the company’s strategic direction, operations management, corporate development, global partnerships and more. He was previously the head of international distribution finance for Warner Bros and also worked at Amazon, where he played a role in Amazon Prime’s international expansion initiative.

Meanwhile, Lerner will oversee development and production of the A+E Studios scripted slate across streaming, cable and broadcast. Prior to joining A+E Studios, he was the VP of television at Landscape Entertainment.

A+E Studios’ drama series Big Sky, which airs on US network ABC, is currently in the middle of its second season. The studio’s upcoming scripted slate includes The Lincoln Lawyer (Netflix) and The Origin (Lifetime).

The company says it has more than 70 projects in active development at Netflix, Showtime, Peacock, HBO Max, AMC and other global platforms as part of its locally originated programming strategy.
