A+E Networks EMEA, Mediawan, TV2, Discovery+ shop at D360 in run-up to Mipcom

A Cut Above has been acquired by A+E Networks EMEA

A+E Networks EMEA, Mediawan, Denmark’s TV2 and Discovery+ in Brazil have each acquired formats from Canada’s Distribution360 (D360).

A+E Networks EMEA has prebought competition format A Cut Above (12×60’) for its channels in the UK, Ireland, Benelux, Sweden, Iberia and sub-Saharan Africa and has also licensed the first two seasons of Blown Away (20×30’).

Mediawan has picked up season one (10×30’) of Blown Away for French-speaking Belgium, Europe (excluding France) and Africa.

TV2 and Discovery+ in Brazil have gone for season one of Best in Miniature (10×60’), while Reservoir Productions has optioned the format for France.

A Cut Above is headlining D360’s Mipcom slate next week. The format sees 12 of the world’s best chainsaw carvers put to the ultimate test of creativity, strength and skill, as they turn ordinary logs into extraordinary works of art. The commissioning broadcasters are Discovery Canada and Discovery US.

Blown Away is a glass blowing competition series on Netflix, in which contestants create stunning works of art and beautiful objects in themed challenges. Season three launched recently on Netflix and will be available to license next year.

Best in Miniature tasks expert miniaturists with building their dream home in miniature form, creating it room by room in painstaking detail, all at 1:12 scale. It has been renewed by Canada’s CBC for a second season.

Also on D360’s Mipcom slate is season two of Race Against the Tide (10×30’), which CBC commissioned a third run this week. The format sees world-class sand sculpting teams compete against each other, and mother nature, to produce extraordinary sculptures before the tide comes crashing in to take their creations back out to sea.

All four formats were originally produced by Canadian prodco MarbleMedia.
