David Zagin, A+E Networks’ president of distribution in the US, is stepping down from his role after more than 25 years at the company, with Jane Rice and Michelle Strong stepping up to take over as co-presidents.

Zagin, who has led and worked with Rice and Strong for 15 years, will continue to serve in an advisory capacity.

Zagin joined A+E in 1999 as senior VP of affiliate sales, before becoming exec VP in 2005 and president of distribution in 2012. Before that he worked at NBC Cable Networks and Fox Cable Networks, having started his career at MTV Networks in 1987.

“During his leadership, Zagin led negotiations for ground-breaking deals, including some of the industry’s first VoD and TV Everywhere agreements, setting a standard that remains integral to distribution models today. His efforts solidified A+E Networks’ reputation as a pioneer in innovative distribution strategies, creating enduring value for partners and audiences alike,” A+E said.

Rice and Strong will jointly oversee all distribution operations for A+E’s domestic, Caribbean and Canadian portfolios, including platform distribution, partnerships and marketing.

Rice joined A+E in 2009 as senior VP of distribution and was promoted to exec VP of distribution and marketing in 2019. Prior to that, she worked at Lifetime Entertainment Services and Disney and ESPN Media Networks.

Strong joined A+E as senior VP of distribution in 2014, before becoming exec VP in 2023. She previously worked at AETN, Disney and ESPN Media Networks and BET.
