A+E grabs Star exec for Asia

A+E Networks has appointed an executive from Star India to be deputy MD of its Asia-Pacific region.

Prem Kamath will join the company this month and be based in Singapore, reporting to Alan Hodges, MD of Asia-Pacific for A+E Networks. He will oversee the strategy of A+E Networks Asia’s ad sales, affiliate sales, operations, programming and marketing groups.

Kamath will also support the company’s portfolio of businesses throughout the Asia-Pacific region, working closely with Hodges to manage growth and ensure financial goals are achieved.

Kamath joins from Star India where he was exec VP and general manager, overseeing youth entertainment network Channel V and Star Pravah. Prior to that he held the top marketing post for Star Network’s channels, having left his role as associate VP at advertising giant Leo Burnett Worldwide to join the company.

A+E Networks Asia is the US cablenet operator’s wholly-owned South East Asia business, operating channels including History, Lifetime, H2, Crime & Investigation and Bio in the region.

A+E Networks originally launched AETN All Asia Networks as a joint venture with local player Astro Overseas Ltd but took complete ownership of the rebranded company after a buy-out in 2012.
