A+E channels expand into Slovakia

A+E Networks is extending the reach of its Crime + Investigation (CI) and History channels into Eastern Europe with separate launches in Slovakia.

CI is launching on IPTV and DTH operators Slovak Telecom and Digi Slovakia, while History, which is already available on Slovak Telecom, is expanding its reach on to Digi.

The channels are operated by A+E Networks UK, a joint venture between US cablenets operator A+E Networks and UK satcaster BSkyB, which has channels including CI, History, Lifetime and H2 in 76 territories across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

CI is a female-skewing true crime channel that airs high-rating series including The First 48, The Haunting Of and Beyond Scared Straight.

The international version of History, sister channel of the highly rated US channel, airs series including Pawn Stars and Counting Cars.

Slovak Telecom is the largest multimedia operator in Slovakia.
