Acorn expands partnership with Orange

Apple Tree Yard stars Emily Watson and Ben Chaplin

Acorn TV, the AMC-owned SVoD service showcasing English-language content from outside the US, is set to become available on pay TV platform Orange TV in Spain.

The Spanish version of Acorn TV will show series from the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and Canada, in their Castilian dubbed and subtitled versions.

Existing Orange TV customers can add Acorn to their package for an additional €3.99 (US$4.81) a month, with a free month being offered to those who sign up before June 9.

The deal consolidates the relationship between Orange TV and AMC Networks International Southern Europe (AMCNISE), which has previously seen on-demand platform AMC Selekt, US channel Somos and Selekt’s linear channel feature on Orange TV.

Shows available on Acorn TV in Spain at launch include drama series Apple Tree Yard, starring Emily Watson; London-based drama Capital; Irish legal drama Striking Out; and five-part police drama Collision.

Comedy offerings include Manchester-based police parody No Offence; Finding Joy, in which a woman is given a new job where she is tasked with finding out what makes people happy; and Kingdom, in which Stephen Fry plays a Norfolk-based solicitor barely coping with life.
