Indielab, the accelerator programme for London-based independent prodcos, has named the 16 companies it will be assisting in 2016.

The scheme was set up last year by TV producer Victoria Powell and is backed by the Mayor of London, the London Enterprise Panel and Creative Skillset.

There will be 16 indies involved in 2016, including Antidote Productions, which was set up by former Zig Zag exec Leila Monks, and sports-focused Goalhanger Films.

The other 14 firms signed up are Lemonade Money, Attaboy, Whitworth Media, Racine Media, Fly Film, The Connected Set, Midnight Oil, Rawcut, Purple Geko, Talesmith, Hey Buddy Films, Sundog, Saltbeef TV and Thoroughly Modern Media.

Monks said: “Taking time out from the day-to-day of running an indie and focusing on the business and our growth strategy with guidance from some of the best brains in the business will be a real privilege – not to mention learning from some of the other talented companies that are joining us on the course. We have big plans for Antidote and I hope Indielab will help us realise those.”

Indielab founder Powell said: “Interest in Indielab has been incredible strong with more than 100 companies registering their interest. Our 16 companies are a very strong collection of award-winning and innovative businesses. We’re delighted to be working with them to help them reach the next level of their growth.”
