Abrams returns to NBC

Lost creator JJ Abrams has won another pilot order after US network NBC greenlit an adventure thriller from the writer of long-running series Supernatural.

Revolution, produced by Warner Bros TV and Abrams’ Bad Robot, is about a group of people who struggle to survive in a world where all forms of energy no longer exist.

It is written by Eric Kripke, who will also exec produce with Abrams and Brian Burk (Alcatraz).

Abrams’ last project for NBC, CIA spy drama Undercovers, was canned in November 2010 during its first season.

This is the second recent pilot order for Abrams after The CW greenlit a drama called Shelter, about the staff and guests staying at a New England summer resort.

In other pilot news, Kevin Bacon will star in an as-yet untitled pilot for Fox, written by Kevin Williamson (Dawson’s Creek).

The pilot, produced by Warner Bros Television and Williamson’s Outerbanks Entertainment, is about a retired FBI profiler who joins the hunt for a serial killer who uses technology to create a cult of serial killers.
