ABC, VRT make Smart purchase

Working with Weinstein examines the allegations against the disgraced producer

Pubcasters the ABC in Australia and VRT in Belgium are among the broadcasters to have picked up a one-hour special on the Harvey Weinstein scandal from UK-based distributor Orange Smarty.

Prior to the title going on sale at MipTV in Cannes next month, Smarty has shopped Working with Weinstein (1×49’) around the world. The show was originally produced by UK indie Tigerlilly Productions for local net Channel 4.

BNNVARA in the Netherlands and Yes Docu in Israel have also taken the doc from Smarty, which yesterday added Channel 5’s Do the Right Thing format to its catalogue.

Prince Harry & Meghan: Truly Madly Deeply has also generated further sales for Orange Smarty, with Radio Canada, PopTV Slovenia and BBC Lifestyle Channel in Poland joining broadcasters around the world in picking up the show.

Other deals include Belgian Broadcaster Medialaan committing to another 30 hours of A Place in the Sun and New Zealand free-to-air broadcaster TVNZ buying more than 80 hours of content, including both series of new Channel 4 series Coast Vs Country.
