ABC to launch strike-delayed remake of French crime comedy this autumn

ABC confirms its remake of French series Haut Potentiel Intellectuel (HPI) will launch this autumn
Disney-owned US broadcast network ABC has confirmed its remake of popular French series Haut Potentiel Intellectuel (HPI) starring Kaitlin Olson will launch in a midweek slot this autumn.
Crime procedural High Potential, which stars Olson as a single mother with an unconventional knack for solving crimes, was greenlit last year, prior to the writer’s strike.
Its debut was pushed into 2024 last year and ABC has confirmed the show will air in a Tuesday evening slot.
Written by Drew Goddard, it is based on French network TF1’s HPI, produced by Mediawan-owned Septembre Productions and UGC’s Itinéraire Productions. Disney’s ABC Signature acquired English-language adaptation rights back in 2022 from Newen Connect.
It joins an ABC 2024-25 autumn line-up that will also include the new scripted drama Doctor Odyssey, which comes from Ryan Murphy and is described by ABC as a “high-octane procedural.”
It stars Joshua Jackson as an on-board doctor for a luxury cruise ship where the staff works hard and plays harder.
The schedule will also include the final season of The Conners and new seasons of dramas The Rookie and Will Trent, along with the latest iteration of The Bachelor franchise with The Golden Bachelorette.
Shows such as Abbott Elementary and Scamanda will be joined by previously announced returning unscripted staples America’s Funniest Home Videos and Shark Tank.
“We have a lot to celebrate as we gear up to deliver a fall season that’s packed with compelling new series, beloved fan favorites and must-see live events,” said Craig Erwich, president, Disney Television Group.
“We’re focused on driving our viewership with an expanding slate anchored by best-in-class talent and supported by the enviable and combined reach of ABC and Hulu.”
