ABC takes swing at mini-golf format

US broadcast network ABC has picked up an extreme miniature golf competition series, with NBA star Stephen Curry on board as executive producer and set to feature in every episode.

Holey Moley was created by Chris Culvenor of Eureka Productions and will be produced by the LA- and Sydney-based prodco and Curry’s Unanimous Media.

Production is due to begin in California this month on the 10-episode show, which will showcase self-proclaimed mini-golf lovers from around the US as they compete head-to-head through an epic obstacle golf course.

Curry will appear in every episode as resident golf pro of the Holey Moley course, while Rob Riggle, Joe Tessitore and Jeanie Mai are set to feature as commentators and correspondents.

Ultimately, one winner per episode will take home the US$25,000 prize, along with a plaid jacket and trophy. It will also feature celebrity guest appearances.

Curry, a three-time NBA Champion, two-time NBA MVP and six-time NBA All-Star, co-founded Unanimous Media in 2018 to develop and produce television, film and digital content with an emphasis on family, faith and sports themes.

Actor, comedian, writer, producer and director Riggle, meanwhile, has appeared in comedy hits such as The Hangover, Step Brothers, Saturday Night Live and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

Tessitore is best known for his primetime NFL duties as the play-by-play commentator for ESPN’s Monday Night Football, while Mai is co-host of Fox Television Stations’ The Real.

Culvenor, Paul Franklin, Wes Dening, Charles Wachter, Michael O’Sullivan, Jeron Smith, Erick Peyton and Curry serve as executive producers.
