ABC, South Australian government extend Content Pipeline Fund partnership

Bunya Productions’ forthcoming drama Ladies in Black

Australian pubcaster ABC and the South Australian government have extended their Content Pipeline Fund screen partnership, which was created to strengthen the South Australian screen industry while delivering high-quality content to ABC TV and its iview streaming platform.

The second phase of the deal will be funded by a further A$7.2m (US$10.9m) from the South Australian government, supporting the initiative for another three years.

The partnership, which launched in 2023, has resulted in five ABC commissions and supported 332 jobs, with a direct investment of A$21.8m in South Australia.

The commissions include the funding of season two of Adelaide-based Windmill Pictures’ children’s show Beep & Mort and upcoming six-part drama series Ladies in Black, which Bunya Productions shot in South Australia.

ABC MD David Anderson said: “The partnership is creating a pipeline of work and security for South Australian businesses and practitioners and attracting interstate productions of scale with significant investment in South Australia. It is part of the ABC’s strategy to increase the proportion of ABC content produced outside of Sydney and Melbourne.”
