ABC reprises Muster Dogs for season four as global format deals grow

Muster Dogs is returning for a fourth season

Australia’s ABC has commissioned a fourth season of Muster Dogs and a second run of spin-off Muster Dogs Where Are They Now, both from Ambience Entertainment.

Both shows will air on ABC TV and ABC iview in 2026. Globally, ABC Commercial has secured broadcast and streaming deals in more than 95 territories via platforms including the BBC, Netflix and Prime Video.

The fourth season of the working dog reality show adds a new twist with the spotlight shifting onto the dog trainers. The new season concept challenges six human participants to raise and train a working dog from puppy to paddock-ready in just 12 months.

Meanwhile, Muster Dogs Where Are They Now, offers a behind the scenes view of the dogs’ progress and to see how the season three participants’ lives have changed since competing in the show.

Format rights have also been optioned in key global markets including the US, the UK, New Zealand and France.

As previously reported in April, Muster Dogs was acquired as a format for development in the UK by Warner Bros International TV Productions-owned Ricochet.

Under the deal, UK-based Ricochet are adapting the format in conjunction with Pippa Lambert from Hellcat Productions, who has acquired the US rights to the format. Ricochet creative director, Damon Pattison told C21Media that discussions with a number of UK broadcasters were currently ongoing for a broadcast partner.
