ABC orders Rising Star

US broadcast network ABC has ordered a version of Israeli singing competition format Rising Star from new joint venture Keshet DCP.

The deal, for 10 episodes of the show to air next summer, is the first for Keshet DCP, formed last month by Keshet International, the global distribution and production arm of Keshet Media Group, and DC Media, the parent company of Dick Clark Productions.

Produced by Tedy Productions for Keshet Broadcasting, Rising Star made a record-breaking debut on Israel’s Channel 2 this autumn with a 49.4% share. The show, which allows viewers to vote on performances via apps in real time, has achieved conversion rates (viewers participating on a second screen) of over 30%, according to ABC.

The format has already sold to territories including France, Germany, Italy and Russia.

The US deal was brokered by agency WME.
