NEWS BRIEF: US broadcast network ABC has renewed its medical drama The Good Doctor for a fifth season, again produced by Sony Pictures Television and ABC Studios.

The show, based on KBS2’s South Korean drama of the same name, follows a young surgeon with autism and savant syndrome who leaves his quiet country life behind to join a prestigious hospital’s surgical unit.
