Australia’s public broadcaster the ABC has hired a second senior executive from marketing and strategy agency Droga5, part of Accenture Song, securing Belinda Drew as its new head of marketing.

Drew will join the ABC in early 2026, she is currently Droga5’s chief client officer ANZ. She has been with the agency since 2020, when it was known as The Monkeys, one of Australia’s leading and multi-award-winning advertising agencies.

The high profile hire comes three months after the appointment of ex-Droga5 colleague, Milla McPhee as the ABC’s new audiences director.

“This appointment reinforces our commitment to showcasing Australia’s creative excellence, not just in our content, but in our marketing as well. Belinda’s reputation for creative leadership and evidence-based marketing effectiveness will help us deepen the connection between the ABC and our audiences,” said McPhee.

Drew replaces Karen Madden, who held the role of head of marketing for four years, in addition to serving as acting director if audience from August 2024 until McPhee took her new role in September of this year.
