ABC director of audiences Leisa Bacon exits after decade-long tenure

Leisa Bacon, director of audiences at Australia’s ABC, is leaving the public broadcaster after a decade at the head of key strategic and marketing audience functions.

Leisa Bacon

Bacon joined the ABC as director of audience and marketing in 2014 after senior roles across the consumer products and health sectors, and arts. Her data-driven role traversed a period of transformation as the ABC evolved its digital platforms and updated its audience tracking across a growing multitude of platforms.

During her tenure she drove content collaborations across the ABC, launching the ABC Kids app, ABC listen app, ABC NEWS app, and ABC iview, as well as ensuring ABC brands and services have kept pace with the changes in audience expectations.

ABC managing director David Anderson said: “Leisa came to the ABC with the task of centralising our marketing and audience requirements to meet changing audience engagement in an increasingly fragmented media market. She has developed and led strategies to ensure the ABC remains relevant to audiences everywhere.”

Karen Madden has been appointed acting director audiences for the interim while the ABC undertakes a recruitment process.
