ABC Commercial to showcase original slate across comedy, doc and kids at Mipcom

ABC original series Mother & Son returns for a second season

ABC Commercial is bringing a diverse original slate to Mipcom, showcasing premium documentary, original children’s and family entertainment and scripted comedy.

The well-travelled, multi-series format Muster Dogs (6×60’) from Ambience Entertainment returns to the Mipcom slate with its fourth  season after recently securing multi-territory format deals.

Freshly renewed for a second season is Docker Media’s I Was Actually There (6×30’), exploring pivotal moments in history through the eyes of those who experienced them firsthand. The new season will premiere in Australia on October 7 and will be showcased at Mipcom.

In ABC produced documentaries, Dr Ann’s Secret Lives (6×30’), explores unique animal species including bull sharks, sea snakes and orangutans; natural history doco Killer Whale: Australia’s Megapod narrated by actor Richard Roxburgh, follows a unique group of killer whales in Western Australia; and Eat the Invaders (6×30’) provokes viewers to question how and what they eat.

Additional original factual content includes End Game hosted by Tony Armstrong and produced by Smashing Films, Barking Mad Productions and Bacon Factory Films, which seeks solutions to combat racism in Australian and global sports and five part arts/history series, When the War is Over produced by Mint Pictures and presented by Rachel Griffiths, explores how art has helped us understand, process, and heal from the trauma of war.

New original format from Dreamchaser and Maverick Entertainment, Crime Night!, fuses criminologists in a panel show for crime enthusiasts. In comedy, reimagined ABC original series Mother & Son (6×30’) from Wooden Horse returns for a second season diving into family dysfunction.

ABC Commercial’s children’s slate will include new Wiggles franchise spin-off, The Tree of Wisdom (18×5’) and Wiggle Up, Giddy Up! (1×60’), a country-themed special from The Wiggles.

Meanwhile, from All Story Productions is educational Dance With Tom (5×5’) celebrating First Nations culture through traditional dances inspired by the land, animals, and elements. Pre-school series Fizzy & Suds (26×11’) from Tilt Media returns for more curiosity-driven adventures and Gardening Australia Junior (20×15’) also makes a comeback, with its third season inspiring young green fingers.
