ABC Commercial strikes deal with China’s UYoung for Wiggles and Moody Street Kids

The deal includes Moody Street Kids’ Big Words, Small Stories

Australia-based ABC Commercial has secured its first content deal with Chinese media company UYoung’s UKIDS platform, for distribution of The Wiggles and Moody Street Kids’ programming.

Wiggles content including Ready, Steady, Wiggle! seasons four to seven, Wiggle & Learn and Moody Street Kids’ Big Words, Small Stories will be carried on the UKIDS app.

ABC Commercial has a long-term strategy to expand into the highly competitive Chinese market and the deal represents a milestone in that effort.

“Breaking into China is no easy feat. It is one of the most tightly regulated media markets in the world, with high expectations around content quality, educational value and cultural sensitivity,” said Alex Zhou, ABC Commercial’s content sales manager for Asia and MENA,

China is seeking content that supports English-language learning, social development and early cognitive skills. Ready, Steady, Wiggle! S4-5 and Big Words, Small Stories will launch on UKIDS from mid-October, followed by Wiggle & Learn and Ready, Steady, Wiggle! S6-7 from January next year.
