9 Story to distribute Book Hungry Bears

Book Hungry Bears features four friends who love picture books

9 Story Distribution International has picked up multi-territory distribution rights for the preschool animation series Book Hungry Bears and will launch the title at Mipcom.

The Dublin-based sales arm of Canada’s 9 Story Media Group has obtained the rights to sell the series across global markets, excluding China, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Hengxin Shambala Kids will handle sales to China, with 9 Story Media Group taking responsibility for sales in the Canadian market.

Book Hungry Bears (52×11’) is a copro between Pukeko Pictures, Breakthrough Entertainment and Hengxin Shambala Kids with backing from the Shaw Rocket Fund and the Canada Media Fund.

The series was created by children’s writer and illustrator Martin Baynton and follows four bears as they find and catch books to read. Episodes cover a range of themes, including diversity, change, perseverance and friendship.

The series has been commissioned by Canada’s TVOkids and TFO, in association with Knowledge Kids and been picked up for broadcast on TVNZ in New Zealand and by ABC Australia.
