9 Story forges Chinese first

Canadian producer 9 Story Media Group has made its first major move into China after linking up with a local media group on a number of its shows.

Preschool series Peg + Cat

9 Story has agreed a deal that will see distributor Beijing Sunshine Culture and Communication take all Chinese rights to its preschool series Peg + Cat (80×11’) and Daniel Tiger’s Neighbourhood (130×11’).

Natalie Osborne, MD at 9 Story, said the deal “represents a tremendous growth opportunity for our brands. We look forward to bringing our great content to the territory across Sunshine’s strong network of partners.”

Both Peg + Cat and Daniel Tiger’s Neighbourhood are coproductions with The Fred Rogers Company for PBS Kids. Peg + Cat launched in 2013, while Daniel Tiger’s Neighbourhood first aired in 2012, with both shows since selling around the world.
