9 Story Distribution gets rights to animated comedy Do Not Watch This Show

Do Not Watch This Show was created by Australian entertainer and author Andy Lee

9 Story Distribution International has acquired the worldwide rights, excluding Australia and New Zealand, to animated kids’ comedy series Do Not Watch This Show.

Created by Australian entertainer and author Andy Lee, and based on Lee’s book series Do Not Open This Book, the 12×11’ programme stars a pompous blue monster, voiced by Lee, who is desperate for viewers to stop watching his show.

But the monster’s increasingly absurd attempts to sabotage his own show only make him more irresistible. Each episode invites audiences to unravel the mystery of why he doesn’t want them to watch.

According to 9 Story, Do Not Watch This Show has topped ABC iview charts in Australia, amassing over 115 million minutes watched in three months and achieving one million average viewers across ABC iview and ABC Family in its first two weeks.

The series became the biggest launch of a new children’s and family show in ABC iview history, and ABC recently confirmed a second season.

Aimed at children aged 5-8 and their families, Do Not Watch This Show is produced by Lee’s prodco Lee Bones Productions for the ABC. It is written by Lee, Jason Marion, Melanie Bracewell, Ray Matsen and Katie Westcott. Lee also executive produces with Greg Sitch. Leo Baker is director and Patrick Crawley is series producer.

9 Story will officially launch international sales of the series at MipJunior and Mipcom this weekend.
