Steve Condie takes up the newly created role of head of specialist factual at 7 Wonder, which was set up in March by Australia’s Seven Network and former Maverick Television executives Alexandra Fraser, Liza Abbott and Simon Ellse.

Condie joins from UK indie Oxford Scientific Films, where he executive produced shows for the BBC and Channel 4 including The Real White Queen, Food Prices – The Shocking Truth and BBC4’s music and fashion series Oh You Pretty Things.

His appointment comes six months after the launch of 7 Wonder, which added Chris Wilson to its ranks as head of popular factual and Mish Mayer as head of development last month.

Prior to Oxford Scientific – these days part of Boom Pictures – Condie led the history development team in the factual division of the BBC. During his tenure he produced The Power of Art, The Seventies and The British Family with Kirsty Young.

7 Wonder’s first commission, Micky’s Flanagan’s Detour de France, is set to launch this Autumn on Sky1.

The prodco’s launch followed the formation of the 7Beyond joint venture, between Seven Network and Beyond International, which focuses on the creation and development of new programmes and formats for the US television market.
