5Star adopts Firecracker’s Bad Teen

5Star’s Baby Ballroom is set for a second run

Viacom-owned UK broadcaster Channel 5 has ordered a docu-reality series for its 5Star network that explores what happens when badly behaved teenagers enter the world of ballroom dancing.

Bad Teen to Ballroom Queen (6×60′) is from Tinopolis-backed UK prodco Firecracker Films and follows the unruly youngsters as they develop into disciplined ballroom dancers.

The show will air in 2018 along with fellow dancing show Baby Ballroom, which has been recommissioned for a second season.

The series, also from Firecracker, launched earlier this year on 5Star and follows a dance school in the UK run by an ex-professional dance couple. The second season will kick off with a Christmas special before a six-part run next year.

Both shows, distributed by Passion Distribution, have been commissioned by Sebastian Cardwell and Gemma Hewlett, channel managers for 5Star.
