5, Paramount pick up NFL free-to-air rights in UK

NEWS BRIEF: UK broadcaster 5 and Paramount UK have signed a multi-year partnership with the NFL and CBS Sports to bring live coverage the NFL’s Sunday evening games to a free-to-air audience, including rights to the Super Bowl, Thanksgiving Day specials and three playoff games.

The 18.00 game will air on 5 and the 21.00 one on 5ACTION, which will be re-branded as 5NFL on game days. 5 is partnering with Hungry Bear Media on a new play-along entertainment format called NFL: Big Game Night, hosted by Dermot O’Leary, Sam Quek and double Super Bowl winner Osi Umenyiora, which will air around the 18.00 games.
