Former Warner Bros executive Matt Nagorner and unscripted producer/showrunner Ian Gelfand have rolled out new prodco IM Trying Productions as a joint venture with California-based production group 3BMG.

Serving as co-presidents, Gelfand and Nagorner will develop and produced unscripted content across multiple genres, with a special focus on talent-led series.

The freshly minted outfit’s inaugural slate consists of around 20 projects, including an unspecified series for Hulu, a home design show, a hidden camera format and several pop culture docuseries.

3BMG is run by CEO Ross Weintraub and chair Reinout Oerlemans, with labels under the group’s umbrella including Jeff Jenkins Productions (The McBee Dynasty), Superluna Studios (June Famrs) and 3 Ball Productions (Bar Rescue).

Gelfand has served as an executive producer and showrunner on unscripted series from companies like Bunim/Murray, Sony, Warner Bros Discovery, Truly Original and 32 Flavors. His credits include Vanderpump Villa, Summer House, Duck Dynasty and Love & Hip Hop: New York.

Nagorner, meanwhile, most recently served as talent lead for Warner Bros Unscripted, specialising in developing original series and formats built around celebrities. During his tenure, he worked across programming including The Bachelor, The Voice and Friends.

Prior to his stint at Warner Bros, Nagorner spent over five years at Chuck Lorre Productions (Two & a Half Men).

Gelfand said: “Matt and I both value the power of collaboration with talent and production partners and how a unified effort translates to content wins. 3BMG is so supportive in helping us reach our goals and we’re excited for this new chapter.”

Nagorner said: “Our mission is to put talent first and give all of our IMT partners a seat at the table. We’re honoured to be part of the 3BMG family and to have Ross and Reinout’s backing as we develop and take our slate to market.”

Oerlemans and Weintraub said: “We’ve worked hard to build an environment at 3BMG where creators can flourish and to have witnessed the immense success of our JV partners at JJP and Superluna is incredibly rewarding.

“We’re bullish on what Ian and Matt can deliver and are thrilled to have IMT under our banner.”
