108 Media strikes karate deal

Canada-based distributor 108 Media has secured the worldwide rights to live broadcasts of Japanese martial art Kyokushin karate.

108 Media secured the deal – the first of its kind for the company – via its 108 Asia arm.

The agreement, secured by 108 Asia MD Ryo Ebe, includes access to pending live matches as well as archived content. Both will be available to international buyers at next week’s Mipcom market in Cannes.

Kyokushin karate, a specialised Japanese sport sometimes referred to as ‘the strongest karate,’ is rooted in a philosophy of self-improvement.

The sport will be represented by 108 Media’s head of international sales, Jordan Nutson.
