New Winehouse doc order for ITN

ITN Productions has been commissioned to make another fast-turnaround documentary about singer Amy Winehouse, following her death at the weekend.

The UK’s ITV has ordered Amy Winehouse: A Tribute, an hour-long programme about the troubled star’s career and musical legacy, which will air on digital channel ITV2 on Friday at 21.00.

Archive footage, interviews and music videos will be put together for the tribute, which will follow Winehouse’s story from her time at Sylvia Young Stage School to her arrival in the music charts.

The programme will be executive-produced by Steve Carsey and Jamie Scott at ITN Productions.

ITN has already been commissioned by Channel 4 to update Amy Winehouse: What Really Happened, a doc originally broadcast in 2008.

Channel 4 also picked up Amy Winehouse: Lost Soul from ITN for its diginet 4Music, which aired the programme on Monday.

Tonight at 18.00 (ET), US network MTV will air a repeat of a concert Winehouse recorded for the network in 2007.

Winehouse, 27, who had a long history of drug and alcohol abuse, was found dead at her London home at the weekend.
