New Form backs UK digital duo

New Form Digital, the digital studio launched by Discovery and Hollywood producers Brian Grazer and Ron Howard, is backing a new pilot from online comedy creators Jack and Dean.

The agreement is part of New Form Digital’s second Incubator series, which is commissioning short films from 10 online creators.

UK-based Jack Howard and Dean Dobbs, who have racked up more than 33 million YouTube hits, will shoot the digital short this month, with local outfit Colour TV producing.

As well as their online projects, the duo is currently developing a sitcom for television, as well as hosting Chart Bite on the BBC’s iPlayer catch-up service.

Discovery Communications teamed up with Howard and Grazer to launch LA-based New Form last April. The company focuses on developing scripted and unscripted programming for digital distribution.

The new venture is led by chief creative officer Kathleen Grace, who was previously head of creative development at YouTubeSpace LA.
