New distribution for China’s Song

Sing My Song

The international distribution rights to Chinese talent show format Sing My Song have changed hands, after the three-year deal with ITV Studios ended.

Singapore-based Bomanbridge Media has picked up rights within Asia-Pacific territories, while Small World IFT has the rest of the world. The show was created and produced by Canxing/Star China International Media and has aired for three seasons on CCTV-3 in China.

“Asians love their musicians with a passion and Sing My Song is sure to be a major success outside of China,” said Bomanbridge CEO Sonia Fleck.

Tim Crescenti, president at Small World IFT, added: “What makes Sing My Song so original and different is the emphasis on writing and recording original music. This is not another karaoke cover show.”

Sing My Song first launched internationally three years ago, when ITV Studios Global Entertainment acquired the rights and Universal Music Group also came onboard.

As well as its success in China, where it was produced by the team behind mega-hit The Voice of China, the format has been adapted in Vietnam after VTV3 licensed it from ITV Studios in 2015.

Sing My Song is a studio-based music contest that requires a judging panel of four musicians to mentor amateur singer-songwriters trying to progress through the competition with their own songs. The experts must also look for songs the singers can use on their albums.
