US music and entertainment network MTV, owned by Viacom, has promoted Lily Neumeyer to executive VP of development.

In her new role, Neumeyer will oversee the unscripted development slate and strategy for MTV and VH1, as well as MTV Studios and other Viacom-owned networks CMT and Logo.

Neumeyer was previously senior VP of development for MTV and its sister channel VH1, a role she took up in 2017 after development for the two networks was combined.

Neumeyer began her career at MTV as a co-creator and exec producer on My Super Sweet Sixteen and also developed and exec produced Juvies. She went on to join the news team overseeing documentaries, live news shows and red carpet events, before leading the launch of youth bilingual brand MTV Tres.

She left MTV to become VP of non-fiction and alternative programming at A+E Networks, before joining VH1 as head of development in 2016 and adding MTV to her remit six months later.

“Lily is a creative force of nature and an inspirational mentor who’s played an enormous role in driving our success,” said MTV’s president of entertainment, Nina Diaz.

“Whether it was taking on the epic challenge of reinventing MTV’s seminal The Real World in three different countries for Facebook Watch, developing ‘the best new show of 2019’ with Double Shot of Love, re-imagining an iconic franchise for a new generation with The Hills: New Beginnings, or cultivating Siesta Key into a bona fide sensation, Lily has an uncanny ability to create hit after hit.”
