Netflix votes for Obamas

Barack Obama was US president for eight years

US streamer Netflix is set to produce an array of content with former US president Barack Obama and his wife Michelle.

According to The New York Times, the Obamas and Netflix are in “advanced negotiations” to produce a series of shows, but the style of programming and episode counts are yet to be decided.

Programming will focus on inspirational stories, the US newspaper reported, rather than being used for political purposes or attacking the Trump regime.

Should the deal go ahead, it will add to Barack Obama’s extensive online presence, which already includes more than 100 million followers on Twitter and 50 million Facebook ‘likes.’

Obama was a guest on the first episode of David Letterman’s show My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, which started streaming on Netflix in January.

In related news, the streamer has agreed a rights deal for characters from Rob Liefeld (Deadpool)’s comic series Extreme Universe, with Transformers’ producer Akiva Goldsman attached to develop the IP.
