Netflix strikes MENA pay TV partnership

Netflix movie Bright will be made available on OSN

Netflix has struck its first partnership deal in MENA, giving pay TV network OSN access to its content library.

The move will allow OSN subscribers to watch the global streaming giant’s exclusive original programming, Hollywood movies, TV shows, documentaries, stand-up comedy and kids’ titles.

This includes recent feature film Bright, plus original series such as Stranger Things, Orange is the New Black, House of Cards, The Crown, 13 Reasons Why, Narcos and Altered Carbon.

Netflix’s soon-to-launch Arabic stand-up comedy Adel Karam: Live from Beirut will also be available.

The content will be made available via a new OSN set-top box that will be launched towards the end of the second quarter of this year, OSN said. Customers will be able to include their Netflix subscription in one consolidated OSN bill.

OSN’s CEO Martin Stewart said: “The future of the entertainment industry in the MENA region will be shaped by providers that offer value and choice at every turn, and through this groundbreaking partnership with Netflix, we are demonstrating our customer-centric focus on delivering convenience and flexibility for all.”

OSN already has partnerships with international firms such as Disney, HBO, NBC Universal, Fox and Sony.

Maria Ferreras, VP of business development for EMEA at Netflix, added: “With this regional partnership and thanks to hundreds of Netflix’s original titles slated for 2018, OSN’s customers will be able to seamlessly access and enjoy all the best entertainment in one place.”
