Netflix renews Glow, picks up musical

Netflix has renewed its wrestling comedy Glow for a fourth and final season, and is set to adapt Broadway musical 13 into a family feature film.

Glow season 2

Glow, a Netflix original series, will enjoy a final 10-episode season on the streaming service. The series is set in the 1980s and follows a group of women who join the first-ever women’s wrestling TV show. It stars Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin and Marc Maron, among many others, and has obtained three Emmy awards since it first launched in 2017.

Creators Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch will return as showrunners, writers and executive producers, with Jenji Kohan, Tara Herrmann and Mark Burley also serving as executive producers.

The premiere date of Glow’s final season is yet to be announced.

Meanwhile, Netflix has also announced its adaptation of Jason Robert Brown’s Broadway teen musical 13 into a family film.

13 follows teenager Evan Goldman as he moves from New York City to small-town Indiana, while grappling with his parents’ divorce, new school social circles, and his upcoming Bar Mitzvah.

Tony Award winner Robert Horn will adapt the script to the screen, with Tamara Davis on board to direct the project and Jason Robert Brown to compose the music.

The film joins Netflix’s catalogue of live-action family films including Tall Girl, Feel the Beat, The Main Event, The Sleepover and A Babysitter’s Guide To Monster Hunting.
