Netflix readies Bonding experience

My Next Guest Needs No Introduction has been renewed

Streaming giant Netflix has picked up a shortform dark comedy from Barry actor Rightor Doyle.

Written, directed and showrun by Doyle, Bonding focuses on the relationship between formerly inseparable high-school friends Pete – a newly out gay man – and Tiff – a grad student who also lives a covert life as one of New York’s leading dominatrixes – who meet up coincidentally years later. It is loosely based on Doyle’s own experiences.

The seven-episode show is produced by Anonymous Content and French shortform specialist Blackpills. Doyle, who plays Nick Nicholby in HBO comedy Barry, also exec produces alongside Dara Gordon, Jacob Perlin, Nina Soriano, Tom Schembri and David Sigurani.

Zoe Levin (The Way Way Back) and Brendan Scannell (Heathers) star in the lead roles, with Micah Stock (Escape at Dannemora) and D’Arcy Carden (The Good Place) also in the cast.

In related news, Netflix has renewed David Letterman talkshow My Next Guest Needs No Introduction for a second season. The six-episode second run will premiere in 2019, although no firm date for its debut has been set.

Details of potential guests for the show are also under wraps, with the first run featuring interviews with George Clooney, former US president Barack Obama and Tina Fey.

My Next Guest Needs No Introduction is produced by RadicalMedia and Letterman’s own shingle Worldwide Pants.
