Netflix orders Mike Myers comedy

Netflix has ordered a half-hour comedy series produced by and starring Mike Myers, who will play multiple characters.

The as-yet-untitled limited series will be executive produced by Myers alongside John Lyons and Jason Weinberg. Mackenzie Cyr and Justin Capraro-Gentuso are on board as associate producers.

“I love creating characters, and Netflix has given me a fantastic playground to play in,” said Myers, who has starred in hit film franchises such as Shrek and Austin Powers.

In related news, Netflix has added its first original animated series from Africa in the form of Mama K’s Super 4 (26×22′).

The series comes from South African studio Triggerfish Animation, which coproduces the action-comedy series with UK children’s entertainment specialist Cake.

The 2D animation is aimed at six- to 11-year-olds and sees four teenage girls recruited by a former secret agent to help her save the world.

Created by Zambian writer Malenga Mulendema, Mama K’s Super 4 pays comic homage to the superhero genre and draws visual inspiration from 90s R&B and hip-hop girl groups.
