Curon is from Italy’s Indiana Production and is being written by Ezio Abbate (Suburra), having been created by Giovanni Galassi, Ivano Fachin and Tommaso Matano.

It tells the story of a mother and her teenage children who return to her mysterious home town in northern Italy, only to discover a series of surprises about her past.

Elsewhere, ITV Studios-owned prodco Cattleya is working on Tre Metri Sopra Il Cielo (working title), a remake of Federico Moccia’s young-adult novel that revolves around motorbike racing on the Adriatic Coast and brings together two lovers from very different backgrounds.

Finally, an adaptation of Marco Missiroli’s novel Fedelta (wt) is in the works, with the Milan- and Rimini-based title exploring desire and betrayal through the story of two spouses.

“Italy is a cradle of great storytellers and amazing talent, and our aim is to find those unique and very local voices that could resonate with TV lovers everywhere,” said Kelly Luegenbiehl, Netflix’s VP of international original series for Europe and Africa.

“This new crop of projects are all very different and will all be shot across Italy. We’re deeply committed to the Italian creative community – and to the creative vision of the content creators we’re working with,” she added.

The US-based streamer recently added to its Italian slate with an order for the original film Lo Spietato by Renato De Maria, and also has three stand-up comedy specials on its slate from Edoardo Ferrario, Francesco De Carlo and Saverio Raimondo.

The streamer is also in production on the second season of Baby (Fabula Pictures) and the first season of Luna Nera (Fandango), and is developing animation Winx Club into a live-action TV series.
