Netflix hires preschool animation chief

Netflix has brought in professor and children’s media consultant Dr Kevin Clark as a director of original animation for preschoolers.

LA-based Clark, who recently worked with the global streamer as a creative producer on Bookmarks: Celebrating Black Voices (12×5′), joined the company this month.

Netflix’s preschool unit, which typically commissions content for two- to seven-year-olds, is overseen by Heather Tilert.

Clark has previously worked with numerous networks, streamers and producers on their content development and inclusion strategies, as well as with technology and toy companies.

Earlier this year Clark told the virtual Children’s Media Conference that those working in children’s media have a responsibility to interrogate their depictions of children of colour for any signs of racial stereotyping.
