Netflix feels Aussie comedy Heat

Netflix has added an animated comedy from Australia to its slate of original productions.

Pacific Heat will premiere as a Netflix original in the US, Canada, UK and Ireland on December 2.

The series will also be available in Australia exclusively on pay TV broadcaster Foxtel before the end of the year.

The toon is a satirical take on police shows and features an unconventional unit of investigators who take on criminals on Australia’s Gold Coast.

It comes from Santo Cilauro, Tom Gleisner and Rob Sitch of Australian outfit Working Dog Productions, producers of Aussie series such as Have You Been Paying Attention?, The Panel, The Late Show and Funky Squad.

The news comes as dominant Australian pay TV operator Foxtel makes Netflix available on its platform for the first time.
