Netflix is to continue its Asia expansion with a launch in Cambodia next year, according to local media.

The US streaming service, which plans to complete its global roll-out by the end of 2016, recently confirmed launches in South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan for early 2016.

The service has also begun plotting a move in South Korea, as revealed by C21, and recently launched in Japan.

Now the company is eyeing up Cambodia, according to local reports, as it looks to add to its Asian roll-out.

“We intend to offer our service globally by the end of 2016 and that includes Cambodia,” Netflix spokesman Jonathan Friedland told the Phnom Penh Post in an email.

Netflix launched in Australia and New Zealand in March and will roll out in Italy, Portugal and Spain this month. In the US, Canada and Latin America the company increased subscription by US$1 last week to US$9.99.

While Hong Kong is an autonomous territory of China, Netflix is reportedly still eyeing up a full launch in the world’s most populous country.

Amazon launched its video streaming service in Japan this month to directly rival Netflix in the Asian nation. However, Hulu pulled out of the country last year.
