NENT orders English-language comedy

Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group) has ordered a six-part English-language science fiction comedy starring Morena Baccarin (Deadpool) and Johan Glans (Swedish Dicks).

Home Invasion is being produced by NENT-owned Brain Academy and will premiere across the Nordic region in 2020 exclusively on the company’s Viaplay streaming service.

The show follows two burglars who break into a house and find a family of aliens intent on taking over the world. It will be executive produced by Melanie DiPietro, while Don Bitters (House of Cards) directs.

Jakob Mejlhede Andersen, Viaplay’s chief content officer, said the show highlighted that NENT is raising its “conceptual and visual ambitions.”

“Unexpected meetings are at the heart of this highly entertaining series, which combines sci-fi with comedy and personal predicaments with cosmic conflict,” he added.

NENT has ordered a raft of scripted product for the streamer over the past year, including recent commission Swedish Sin. It is aiming to reach 20 such shows over the next 12 months, rising to 40 over the coming years, and has begun expanding its unscripted output.
