NENT, Moonbug spin Little Baby Bum

Moonbug bought preschool show Little Baby Bum for a reported US$10m

MIPCOM: Nordic Entertainment (NENT) Group has teamed up with Little Baby Bum producer and distributor Moonbug for a new animated spin-off from the hit children’s digital property.

Mia’s Magic Playground will premiere in early 2020 on the group’s Viaplay streaming platform across the Nordics as Mias Magiska Värld and will be available in all local languages.

Aimed at four- to six-year-olds, the 24-episode spin-off centres on Little Baby Bum’s main character Mia and her best friends Oskar and Tilde, who learn about real life as they explore an imaginary one.

Little Baby Bum has an online fanbase of more than 47 million subscribers and has generated 30 billion views on YouTube alone. One of its episodes was the first non-music video to reach one billion views.

The series will join NENT’s growing slate of original kids’ content, which also includes The Great Escape and Saga’s Stories, both of which have been renewed, along with Fixi in Playland and Peppy Pals.

“Mia and friends from Little Baby Bum are among the most instantly recognisable characters for a whole generation of younger viewers around the world,” said Filippa Wallestam, NENT Group’s chief content officer.

“We are bringing this global phenomenon to Viaplay and making it even more accessible with productions in every Nordic language, all in collaboration with a leading local animation studio to ensure that Nordic feel.”
