Swedish Sin (Svenska Synden) is from Stockholm-based Jarowskij, which previously produced Viaplay drama Black Lake, and follows filmmaker Jasper Lake as he documents Milton Jr’s story.

Once one of Sweden’s wealthiest men, Milton Jr was hit by a tax bill totalling SEK500m (US$54m) along with death threats from his father and accusations of forcing women into sexual slavery.

The docuseries follows the story of the tycoon, who is now 64 years old, who claims to have fallen victim to an elaborate conspiracy and has the evidence to prove it.

Jakob Mejlhede Andersen, Viaplay chief content officer, described Swedish Sin as “a grimly fascinating tale of the rise and fall of one of Sweden’s most controversial figures.

He added that the show, “a notable addition to Viaplay’s expanding non-scripted offering,” was a “dark, complex and tragic story that plays out against both the heights and depths of society.”

It will premiere across the Nordic region on May 17 exclusively on Viaplay.

NENT has ordered a raft of scripted product for the streamer over the past year. It is aiming to reach 20 such shows over the next 12 months, rising to 40 over the coming years. It moved into unscripted in 2017 but has kept the majority of its focus on scripted to date.
