Nelvana starts tests on DNA toon

Teletoon in Canada has commissioned an animated comedy-adventure series from Nelvana, a production subsidiary of its parent Corus Entertainment.

D.N.Ace (40×22′) follows an adventure-loving, mischief-making, proudly nerdy 12-year-old boy who learns he holds the ability to manipulate DNA to create entirely new creatures.

Created and executive produced by Matthew Wexler, it is aimed at children aged between six and nine and will debut on Corus-owned Teletoon.

Japanese firms Dentsu, an advertising giant, and OLM, an animation studio, will be representing the series in Japan and will be consulting throughout the production process, Nelvana said.

“Kids love to create and dream up the unimaginable, and the inventive possibilities of D.N.Ace and its mashup mayhem will resonate well with our audience,” said Scott Dyer, president of Nelvana Enterprises.
