Nelvana set for Happy Life

Corus Entertainment’s Canadian children’s prodco Nelvana has joined forces with Grey Matter and United Talent Agency to develop a new preschool series.

Happy Art Happy Life is inspired by pop artist Romero Britto and written by Emmy winner Judy Rothman Rofe.

The deal with Miami-based Britto was announced here at Kidscreen this week and aims to introduce children to the world of visual arts.

The series will take the form of a character-driven sketch show that blends live action and animation.

Athena Georgaklis, Nelvana Studios’ head of development, said: “Romero Britto’s inspirational art serves as a profound reminder of the limitless world of creativity, and we’re proud to show children that art lives and breathes everywhere – especially from within.”

Nelvana has also unveiled The Most Magnificent Thing, a 1×22’ short film based on the award-winning picture book of the same name by Ashley Spires, in Miami this week.

The project is being produced in association with Nelvana’s Corus Entertainment stablemate Kids Can Press.
