Tom Coan’s new role will take him to London

NBCUniversal International Studios is relocating one of its senior LA-based programming executives to London to bolster the company’s scripted division.

Tom Coan, most recently VP of scripted programming, has been named senior VP and will work across the development and production of scripted programming within the NBCU International Studios portfolio of companies.

These include Carnival Films, Lucky Giant and Working Title TV, with Coan also set to work with Keston International Productions and Hardy Son & Baker.

The former DreamWorks Television and Fox21 exec will be responsible for driving growth across the entire UK scripted portfolio and will continue to report to JoAnn Alfano, VP of scripted programming.

NBCU’s London-based international TV division is currently developing US-style procedurals after signing a far-reaching agreement with France’s TF1 and Germany’s RTL Deutschland to coproduce dramas while sharing costs and revenues.
