NBCU Brings the Funny to Canada

NBC comedy competition series Bring the Funny

NBCUniversal International Formats has licensed NBC format Bring the Funny to a prodco in Canada.

Comedy prodco ComediHa! will produce a Canadian remake of the comedy competition series, in which the funniest act wins. The show was originally developed and produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio.

ComediHa!’s Quebecois version of Bring the Funny will offer the winner a spot on its ComediHa! Gal bill, as well as international appearances at partner festivals such as Voo Rire de Liege, Morges-Sous-Rire in Switzerland and the Performance d’Acteur Cannes Festival.

The US version has attracted highs of 8.5 million viewers and is hosted by comedian Amanda Seales and Kenan Thompson, with Chrissy Teigen and Jeff Foxworthy serving as judges.

This marks the second deal between ComediHa! And NBCU, with a Quebecois adaptation of sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine announced in May.
