NBC, Red Bull sign action sports pact

US network NBC has partnered with Austria’s Red Bull Media House to produce 35 hours of extreme sports content.

NATPE 2012The NBC Sports Group, its action sports arm Alli Sports and Red Bull will develop The Red Bull Signature Series, which will feature snowboarding, mountain biking, freestyle motocross, skiing and BMX events. These events will include Red Bull X-Fighters, Red Bull Rampage and Red Bull Supernatural.

NBC will air 20 hours of programming and the NBC Sports network will carry the remaining 15 hours each year for the duration of the partnership. Programmes arrive on air next month with the Red Bull Crashed Ice World Championship skating competition.

“This partnership is an opportunity to create a new global property with a terrific brand in Red Bull, which already produces premium events and world class content,” said Alli Sports president Wade Martin. “The Red Bull Signature Series has amazing growth potential and provides a tremendous opportunity for other brands to be part of some of the world’s most unique sporting events.”
