NBC, Just for Laughs line up format

US broadcast network NBC has teamed up with comedy festival Just for Laughs on a new comedy competition show.

Bring The Funny will be produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio and aims to embrace all styles and forms of comedy.

The 10-part series will feature a judging panel that includes Saturday Night Live’s longest-standing cast member Kenan Thompson, cultural tastemaker Chrissy Teigen and comedy icon Jeff Foxworthy. Comedian Amanda Seales will host the competition.

The show is being produced in partnership with the international organisation Just for Laughs, which has given rise to a host of successful comedy acts via its festivals, tours and television series.

Acts ranging from solo comics, sketch troupes, musicians, magicians and podcasters to puppeteers and YouTubers will have the chance to win the US$250,000 prize package.

David Friedman and Matilda Zoltowski will executive produce. Just for Laughs president Bruce Hills serves as consulting producer.
