NBC extends family ties with Parenthood

NBC has given new mid-season drama series Parenthood a second season.

The show, produced by Imagine Television and Universal Media Studios, has performed well for NBC in its Tuesday 22.00 slot, garnering 7.8 million viewers overall since its March 2 debut.

According to NBC, Parenthood ranks number one in its slot with the 18-49 demo and outperforms CBS’s The Good Wife.

The one-hour drama is based on the box office comedy of the same name, and is exec produced by Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, Jason Katims and David Nevins. It is the second new series to be granted a return after NBC renewed Community for Thursday nights.
